Daniel G. McConnaughey age 68 of Marion, Ohio passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012 at his residence.
He was born August 15, 1943 in Washington Court House, Ohio to the late Homer and Fayette (Mercer) McConnaughey.
On March 17, 1967 he married Nan (Shoup) McConnaughey, she survives in Marion.
Daniel was a 1961 graduate of Greenfield McClain High School, attended Ohio State University and graduated from Mata Technical College. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving from 1961-1965. Daniel was a long time member and elder at First Presbyterian Church, he was employed at GTE for thirty years.
He is survived by his wife, Nan McConnaughey of Marion, three children, Matthew McConnaughey of Marion, Amanda M. (Gary) Crease of Marion, Alec McConnaughey of Marion, four grandchildren, Tyler Crease, Emma Crease, Miranda McConnaughey and Ewan McConnaughey, two brothers, Wendell (Helen) McConnaughey of Grove City, OH., Willard (Loretta) McConnaughey of NJ., two sisters, Phyllis Slayton of Grove City, OH., Peggy (Glenn) Martin of Amanda, OH., dear friends, Bob and Noan Fausnaugh of westerville, OH., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Wayne, Wilber and Edwin McConnaughey, and a sister, Betty Lou Shipton.
Funeral Services for Daniel will be Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 11 AM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rob Howard officiating. Burial will follow service at the Marion Cemetery with the Marion County Veterans Council holding a military service. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 5 – 8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
