Gerald LeRoy Rasey, age 90, of Marion passed away early Saturday morning at Marion Manor Nursing Center.
Born in Big Island Township on October 2, 1921 to William and Edna (Zimmerman) Rasey, he married the former Marilyn Louise Hedges who preceded him in death in 2004.
He was also preceded in death by his 2 brothers; Lawrence and Lowell and 3 of his sisters; Mary Mason, Catherine Swallow and Phyllis Combs.
A veteran of the United States Navy, he was one of the few WWII veterans still living in Marion County and was a member of V.F.W. Post #7201.
Gerald had worked for B.F. Goodrich as a Hose Braider and was also a farmer.
He was a member of the Green Camp United Methodist Church as well as the Ohio Wagon Trains, Morrow County Wagoneers, Green Camp Lions Club, Northern Ohio Pony Association and Black Swamp Driving Club.
Surviving are his 2 sons; Allen (Gloria) Rasey of Marion and Denny (Mary) Rasey of Richwood, his daughter; Mary Catherine (Norm) Drogmiller of Toledo, his sister; Lucille (Delmar) Risch of Marion, his 5 grandchildren; Todd (LeeAnn) Rasey, Heather Allen, Katie (Michael) Stockmaster, Mathew (Amanda) Rasey and Emily Rasey and his 6 great-grandchildren; Danielle Rasey, Erin Rasey, Owen Allen, Mackenzie Allen, Ethan Stockmaster and Harper Rasey.
The Rasey family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home and again on Wednesday from 10-11 AM at the Green Camp United Methodist Church where services will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mandy Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Camp Cemetery.
