Margaret “Anne” Murphy, 83, of Marion

Margaret “Anne” Murphy, age 83, went home to be with her Lord while at Riverside Hospital the morning of Tuesday, March 13, 2012.

Anne was born March 19, 1928 to the late William Irving and Eliza Sarah Catherine Willauer Quick in Columbus, OH.

As a teenager, she and her sister attended a revival meeting at Emmanuel Baptist Church where they both accepted Christ as their personal savior. They shared their faith with their parents who also became believers and thus began a legacy of faith.

On April 21, 1945 she married Edward Eugene Murphy in Greenup, Kentucky; together they had five children. Their marriage ended in 1965.

Anne went to work at the Marion Post Office in the fall of 1965.  She was a mail carrier, postal clerk and at the time of her retirement, in 1991, she was a window clerk.  She was affectionately known as “Maggie” by her friends at work.

Upon retirement, she moved into her elderly mothers home to care for her until her death in 1999. She also cared for her grandson TJ who she lovingly raised as her son.

She was a woman of quiet demeanor and strong resolve, a good listener, a silent sufferer, non- complainer, selfless giver, and exhibitor of unconditional love. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her great granddaughter, Alaina Catherine Oliver.
