Phyllis Curren, 90, of Marion

Phyllis I. Curren, 90, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, March 10, 2012 at Marion General Hospital after a short illness.

Born April 3, 1921 near Caledonia, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Iler and Fern (Reed) Iler-McCoy.

In 1951 in Marion, she married Eddie Curren, Jr. and he survives.

A loving wife, mother and overall wonderful person, Phyliss lived in Marion most of her adult life, she attended Harding High School, was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church where in earlier years she served as President of the Women’s Society, President of the Iva Lu Circle, Church treasurer and was involved in many other activities of the church.  She was a homemaker also having worked at Montgomery Ward’s and the Marion Power Shovel.

In addition to her husband, she is also survived by two sons; Steve (Sheila) Curren and Lanny Phelps both of Marion, a daughter; Linda (Bob) Lloyd of Canton, six grandchildren; Dean, Daniel, Eddie, Stephanie, Jeff and Robin, several great grandchildren, a sister in law; Dot Iler and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard “Dick” Iler.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Velazco officiating.  Burial will follow at the Glendale-Union Cemetery in Cardington.  Friends may call Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the Oakland United Methodist Church.
