Shirley Ann (Shanklin) McCleary, 80, of Marion

Shirley Ann (Shanklin) McCleary, age 80, of Marion, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Partner’s of Marion.

Shirley was born on December 19, 1931 in Bloomdale, Ohio, to Mark H. and Viola (Hall) Shanklin. Shirley was a graduate of Bloomdale High School.

On April 18, 1952, Shirley was united in marriage to Richard E. McCleary. She was employed at Huber where she worked as a Key Punch Operator in data entry.

First and foremost, Shirley was devoted to her family and especially loved being a grandmother. She will also be remembered for her enjoyment of sewing, gardening, camping and was a wonderful cook. Shirley was also an active member at Epworth United Methodist Church, where she participated in several church groups.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Bryan (Karen) McCleary of Marion, Cathy L. (Mel) Hoefflin of Grove City, Mark (Melissa) McCleary of Marion and Lori McCleary of Marion; her grandchildren: Kevin (Jennifer) McCleary, Michelle McCleary, Robert McNamara, Brad (Mandie) McCleary, Kiel McCleary, Emily McCleary, Marie (Andy) Gaffney and Jeremy Caudill; great grandchildren: Allison and Lucas McCleary and Oliver Gaffney; her sister Lorna Phillips and her sister-in-law Janet (Clark) Clendenen.

Shirley is preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard E. McCleary and her parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion from 4PM to 6PM; Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 249 East Center Street, Marion, at 11AM with Rev. Colleen Ogle officiating. Burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
