Thomas Michael Kilgore, age 62, passed away Monday, March 26, at Marion General Hospital following a brief illness.
Born and raised in Marion, he was the son of Thomas Chalmer and Dorothy Louise (Noggle) Kilgore and was a lifelong resident of Marion.
After graduating from Marion Harding High School in 1968, he joined the U.S. Navy and served as a Cryptologic Technician Third Class during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post 162.
After serving in the Navy, he met Polly at the Ohio State University, Marion Campus. They married on May 4, 1974.
He worked with Tecumseh, Rockwell, and Parker Hannifin – each until they closed their doors. At the age of 56, he graduated summa cum laude with a Computer Service Technician degree from Marion Technical College and worked as a helpdesk specialist for United Church Homes.
He was a deeply devoted husband and father; cherished the simple things in life and demonstrated stability, sincerity, and unwavering humor upon the world.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years; Polly (Honnigford) Kilgore, his son; David Kilgore, his daughter; Jennifer (Kilgore) Milam and her husband Jonathan Milam, his grandson; Avery Milam, his sister; Beverly (Kilgore) Cox, his niece; Christy (Cox) Crissinger and many other close family and friends.
Friends may call Friday from 5-8 PM at the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM with Chaplain Dan Kiger officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery with military honors by the Marion County Joint Veterans Council.
