Augustine Thatcher Candel, age 83, of Bucyrus, Ohio passed away peacefully on April 24, 2012.
“Biddy” was a member of Holy Trinity Parish in Bucyrus. She was a lifelong member of the International Friendship Club formed after WWII for foreign brides of Veterans. She participated in the Catholic Ladies of Columbia and the Red Hats. She belonged to the American Legion and the Moose.
She worked for several years as an executive secretary at Fulfillment Corporation and Marion Power Shovel in Marion, Ohio. She was born in Norton, England and met her husband, Cleo, during World War II.
She is preceded in death by her husband Cleo, parents Thomas and Annice Thatcher, siblings Jack Thatcher, Mary Parsons, Theresa Tompkins, Alfred Thatcher, Margaret Hill and Joseph Thatcher, and her children Jennifer Baker, Paul Candel and Pamela Candel. She is survived by her sister Gemma Wright of Brierley Hill, UK, her daughter Linda (Larry) Haas of Galena, Joseph Candel of Westerville, Gregory Candel of Waldo and Christopher (Linda) Candel of Marion, grandchildren Derek Haas, Erin Haas, Nicole Baker Drass, Shannon Baker, Pamela Candel and Morgan Candel Schwartz, great granddaughter, Angel and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 3-7 on Friday, April 27 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors at 347 West Center Street in Marion, Ohio. The Funeral Mass will be at noon on Saturday, April 28, at St. Mary Church at 251 N. Main St. Marion Ohio. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
