James “Jim” Corbin Miley, 92, of Marion

James “Jim” Corbin Miley, of Marion, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 7, 2012.

Jim was born on September 29, 1919 in Kent, Ohio to Vivian Ruth Corbin and Carlton L. Miley.  He grew up in Waldo and Marion, graduating from Marion Harding High School in the class of 1937.

He worked at the Marion and Palace Theaters where he met Margaret Ellen Thacker, his future wife.  He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant during World War II.  After the war, he married Margaret on June 21, 1946 at the Calvary United Brethren Church in Marion, officiated by Rev. Faulkner.  They were married for 61 wonderful years until her death in 2007.

Jim first worked in sales before he began a 28 year career with the National City Bank in Marion.  He retired from his position as Vice President at the Southland Mall Bank.  During his early retirement he drove the van for the Marion Senior Center where he was an active member.  Jim and Margaret loved to travel on road trips to visit family and friends, and to places like Aruba, Hawaii, the Bahamas, and a special family vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in 1996.

Jim loved all kinds of sports.  He was a big fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Indians.  He played pool with dear friends at least twice a week at the Senior Center.  He loved keeping up with current events.  He enjoyed dining out and attending shows, being a dedicated patron of the Palace Theater.  He was a long-time member of Epworth United Methodist Church, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  Jim was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  Family meant everything to him.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Miley, a sister, Vivian Deardorff, and a great-grandson, Jude Innes.

Left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Pam (Jim) Innes of Sunbury, a son, Jim Miley of Valencia, CA; five grandchildren, Jason Innes of Reynoldsburg, Mandy (Joe) Backs and Megan Innes of Columbus, Caitlin and Jessica Miley of Santa Clarita, CA; four great-grandchildren, Mia Innes, Bridget, Charlie, and Olivia Backs; a sister-in-law, Collette Miley of San Antonio, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
