Margaret Ann Crawford, 80, of Marion

Margaret Ann Crawford, born October 27, 1931, of Marion, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Sunday April 29, 2012 at her home.

Margaret was born in Pound, Virginia. She was daughter to Nora (Boggs) and Farley Dorton, who both predeceased her in death.

Also predeceasing her in death was her first husband and father of her children, John Potter. She remarried Kenneth James Crawford, who also predeceased her in death. Her brother, Ken Dorton, sisters, Dora Mullins and Grace Sturgill and grandaughter, Jennifer Potter, also predeceased her in death.

She is survived by her loving children, Patricia (Paul) Bale, John (Bonnie) Potter, Jr., Betty Potter-Paxton (Thomas Baker) and Precilla (James) Perry, all of Marion, Ohio. Margaret is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Shelley (Bryan) Curry, Shawn (Jan) Bale, Celeste (Scott) Emmons, John (Brandy) Potter, IV, James (Christy) Perry and Dawn (David) Haines, and Jessica Potter (Aaron Kimes). She is further survived by many great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. Margaret is also survived by her siblings, Beatrice Sturgill, Myrtle Beverly, Joyce Vanackerman and Fletcher Dorton. She is survived by many many nieces and nephews from Dorton and Potter sides.

Margaret turned 80 years old last October. Her family including her sisters, threw her a surprise 80th birthday party. She enjoyed her birthday so much that she wanted to open her presents before she ate cake. It was a day her family will cherish forever.

Margaret was a cook for many years at the Browns House Restaurant, where she retired from. She also worked at Maplewood Nursing Home.

She loved to sew and crochet , making beautiful quilts and homemade gowns. Margaret loved country and gospel music. She greatly enjoyed going to yard sales, shopping, and Thrift Stores. She loved to decorate her home which made her so very proud. She loved to travel, taking many trips in her lifetime. Amongst so many other family memories, Margaret and the family took yearly trips to Cedar Point in her younger years where she would ride all the rollercoasters. She believed in the Lord Jesus and never failed to pray each night with her daughter, Betty before she went to bed.

She was the kindest soul to everyone she would meet and loved unconditionally.

The family would like to express special thanks to Shelley, Jackie, Melody and Grace for all the care and help that they gave her during her life and for the most part, being her special friends.

Pallbearers for Margarets service will be Shawn Bale, James Perry, John Potter, IV, Tre Potter, Scott Emmons and Tom Baker.

The Funeral Service for Margaret will be Thursday May 3, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Dwight Hord. Entombment will follow in a crypt space in one of Marion Cemetery's Mausoleums. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday May 2, 2012 from 4 to 8 P.M.
