Charles Ray Coakley, 72, of Marion

Sunday afternoon, May 13, 2012 at 12:10 PM after a three month Stuggle with failing heart and lungs, Charles Ray Coakley took the journey home to be with our Lord and Savior and his mother for Mother's Day.

He was born July 13, 1939 in Erin, Tennessee to Paul and Cathern (Ralston) Coakley, Jr. and was raised by his maternal Grandparents, James and Emma Ralston, who have all preceded him in death. He was proud to have been baptised into Christ on Sunday, April 29, 2012.

His family moved to Silver Street in Marion, Ohio where he fell in love with the girl next door, Dianna Parr, and they married on December 18, 1964. They were looking foward to celebrating their 50th anniversary together, But his heart and lungs would not hold up. They cherishedevery minute of their 47 years together.

Charlie left school to work as a farm hand to help his family, and started working for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad on March 2, 1965 and retired from the CSX Railroad with over 38 years of service on June 28, 2001.

He was a past member of both the Marion Eagles Lodge #337 and the Moose Lodge #889.

Charlie cherished his two daughters, Penny (Kenny) Foreman and Julie Coakley (fiance, Dan Richardson). His beloved grandchildren, Beth and (Staff Sgt. Ben) Estep of S. Carolina, Bethani (Cory) Temple, Kelly and Shelbie Foreman, Ashley (fiance, Kenny Catlett) Gallant, Courtney Liggett, Shawn (Olivia) Hampton, Stacey (John) Cromwell, Brittney Hampton, Jonathan Hampton (presently serving in Afghanistan), and Ema Hampton. Great grandchildren, Cambree Temple, Kristi and Kyle Hampton, Mackenzie, Jade and LJ Cromwell and Adyson and Ryder Thomas.

Brayden P.M. Liggett was his special gift from God who's daddy, Patrick M. Liggett was killled in a tragic car accident July 18, 2011.

Charlie and Dianna shared their home with seven foster children whom they treated as their own: Becky Holbrook, Marm Franklin, Julie Peless, Patty Sharp, Dory Rollison (deceased) and Monty and Stevie Antalek. Also survived by his sister, Mary Soice, and brothers, Jim Johnson and Robert (Wilma) Johnson, numerous nieces, nephews and ex-son in law, Bryan Gallant, who he loved as a son, best friend, Kevin Kyle and special family friend, Tom Taylor.

The Funeral Service for Charlie will be Thursday, May 17, 2012 ( 1 PM) at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from  5 – 8 PM at the funeral home. It is Charlie's request that everyone dress causal for the visitation and funeral.
