Frances Marie Cooperider, age 92, of Marion passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon at Bucyrus Community Hospital.
Born in Marion on April 2, 1920 to Lester N. and Cecile M. (Anderson) Roof, she married Albert LeRoy Cooperider on December 31, 1939. Albert preceded her in death as did her son; Ronald Cooperider, 2 sisters; Donna Sampley and Wanda Reece and her brother; Frank A. Roof.
Frances was a humble and simple woman who loved being a homemaker, loved her family and loved animals, especially birds and cats. She also found great enjoyment in playing the organ and working with flowers and was believed to be the oldest living member of the First Church of the Brethren in Marion.
Survivors include her daughter; Phyllis (Larry) Shirk of Marion, her sister; Becky Duerr of Casa Grande, Arizona, her 6 grandchildren; Linnea (Ed) Velasquez, Melissa (Buzz) Baker, Eric (Julie) Shirk, Tracey Cooperider, Todd (Ursula) Cooperider and Dena (Paul) Glosser, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call Friday beginning at Noon at the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM with Mike Jenner officiating. Burial will follow in the Marion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Shirk, Buzz Baker, Kent Baker, Zach Velasquez, Michael Batdorf and Spencer Batdorf.
