Joseph T. "Joe" DeForest, age 32, of Mount Gilead, died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at his residence.
On May 31, 1979, Joe was born in Marion, the son of Anne M. (Harris) DeForest and the late John W. Deforest. He graduated from Cardington-Lincoln High School in the Class of 1997.
For the last several years, Joe was employed by Cardington Yutaka Technologies, working on the line and most recently as a welder. He also spent time working for Ostrom Manufacturing building aquariums.
Joe was not a sit around type of guy, instead he was always out working on something with his hands. He enjoyed woodworking and used those skills to help remodel homes. He also liked to work on cars. Joe found time to relax by fishing, shooting firearms, getting tattooed and enjoying his Bud Light. He will always be remembered for his unpredictable and very entertaining way about himself.
Joe will be dearly missed my his mother, Anne, of Cardington; three brothers and sisters: James (Jennifer) DeForest of Marion, Sarah (Cory) Gutenschwager of Lapeer, MI, John (Missy Radel) DeForest of Ashley; and an uncle, Stan (Roni) Harris of Cleveland.
Joe was preceded in death by his father and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
The DeForest family will greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2012, at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St, Mt. Gilead. Joe’s family will also greet friends there on Tuesday from 2 – 4 p.m., with services celebrating his life by Woody Bagwell at 3:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions in Joe’s memory may be made to the Morrow County EMS, and may be made in care of the funeral home.
