Marvin O. Buchanan, age 93, of Marion, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in the care of Marion Manor Nursing Home and Marion General Hospital Hospice.
He was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Cleveland, TN., to the late Anna and William A. Buchanan.
On August 10, 1040, he was joined in marriage to Corrine F. (Fix) who preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 2002.
He retired after 20 years as a machinist and 40 years as a contractor. He attended Oakland Methodist and in recent years Prospect Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include 2 children, a daughter Shirley Buchanan (Harry Bedow) of Marion and a son Darrell (Carol) Buchanan of New Bloomington, 4 grandchildren, Gregory Buchanan of Cincinnati, Brian (Grey) Buchanan of Louisville, KY., Robert (Kim) Arnette and Lisa Monnette of Marion, 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and 2 sisters, Marie Conkle and Virginia Green both of Marion. Four sisters and 2 brothers are deceased.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Prospect Street United Methodist Church at 10:30 AM with Pastor Nancy Goulet officiating and burial following in Marion Cemetery. Calling hours will be 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the funeral service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Marion General Hospice or Prospect Street United Methodist Church.
