A memorial service for Robert "Bob" Wires, age 75, of Marion will be held at noon on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with Pastor Gary Brugger officiating.
Bob passed away on June 25, 2012, surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 12, 1937 to the late Helen (Weber) and William Wires in Toledo, Ohio. Moving to Marion as a young child with his family. Bob graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1955. He married Jeri Sells on December 29, 1962 who survives. After a career in sales, Bob enjoyed traveling and fishing in his retirement. Most of all, Bob wanted to spend time with his family and enjoyed teaching his grandsons to fish, but pouting when they caught more fish than he did. A great man with a gentle soul, Bob showed tremendous strength, humor and courage through his extended illness.
Besides his wife Jeri, Bob is survived by his daughters, Stacy Thompson of Granville, Michelann (Michael) Scheetz of Granville and son, Robert Timothy Wires of Gahanna; six grandchildren, Mathew and Emily Thompson, Thomas and Maxwell Scheetz, Chris Wilds and Paige Wires; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Miller, Marian Starner and Barbara Wires, brothers, James and Jack Gooding, and nephew James Gooding. Family will receive friends one hour before the service on Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until noon at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
