Don Edward Gilliam age 48 of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away Friday July 20, 2012 at Carolina East Hospital in New Bern, N.C. He was born November 1, 1963 in Marion, Ohio to Leo and Margaret (Hunt) Gilliam. His parents both survive in Marion, Ohio. On July 28, 1989 in Marion, Don married Melissa A. (Howard) and she survives.
Don was a Machinist with Pittsburgh Glass Works in Crestline, Ohio, and Union Committee Member. He was also a graduate of Elgin High School. Don took pride in coaching and spending time with his children and grandchild. In his spare time, Don enjoyed being with his wife, traveling, and making people laugh with his sense of humor. Don will forever be remembered as a hard working, honest, compassionate man.
Besides his wife and parents, Don is survived by two daughters and a son; Erica (Rodger) Thacker of Havelock, N. Carolina, Cierra (Dallas) Gurley of Benton, Ks., and Cody Ryan Gilliam of Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Also, a granddaughter, Bella Gurley survives and one sister and one brother; Debbie (Richard) Brown and Dan (Becky) Gilliam, both of Marion, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Don will be Friday July 27, 2012 at 12 Noon at the Marion Enterprise Baptist Church, 130 Orton St., Marion,Ohio. Officiating the service will be Rev. Grover Caudill. Burial will follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Thursday July 26, 2012 from 2 to 4 P. M. and 6 to 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Donor's Choice.
