Gerry S. Persinger, 68, of Marengo

Gerry S. Persinger, age 68, of Marengo, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at his residence.

Born August 9, 1943 in Thornport, Ohio, Gerry was the son of the late R.B. Orval and Elizabeth Ladora (Rhineberger) Persinger.

On June 2, 2006, Gerry married Janis M. Tomlin.  They had been together since 1993 and shared the last six years as a married couple.
Gerry worked as a painter, machinist, and an overall handy man for many different companies throughout the area.

Gerry always found time to relax fishing at Kokosing and Knox Lakes.  He enjoyed working on lawn mowers and tractors, dabbled in farming, and grew a nice vegetable garden each year.  He also enjoyed word searches and playing his guitar, especially having an appreciation for country music.

First and foremost, Gerry was a family man.  For him, nothing was better than spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He would do anything for them and always put their well being before his own.

Gerry will be dearly missed by his wife, Janis M. (Tomlin) Persinger of Marengo; 11 children: Penny Hutchinson of Mount Gilead, Teresa Gandy of Fredericktown, Tina (Jeff) Ryan of Edison, Tammy (Johnny) Swint of Cardington, Brain Farly of Lafayette, LA, Gerry A. Persinger of Marion, Matthew Persinger of Marengo, Christopher Shrader of Delaware, Dustin Michael Shrader, Jeffery Shrader, and Melaine Shrader, all of Marengo; 20 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Ray (Margaret) Persinger of Johnstown; five sisters: Marie Morgan of Galloway, Ruthie (Gary) Nutter of Mount Sterling, Julia Marteney of Cardington, Peggy Page of West Virginia, Donna Copeland of Mount Gilead; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gerry was preceded in death by his brother, Dave Persinger.

Gerry’s family will greet friends from 1 – 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead.  Services celebrating his life will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Marengo Cemetery, with Pastor Jeff Deel officiating.

Rather than flowers, memorial contributions may be made to help assist the family with unexpected expenses, and may be made in care of the funeral home.

Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead is honored to have been chosen to serve Gerry’s family, and your private condolences may be expressed to them by visiting www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
