Kristen Nicole Peters, 16, of Mount Gilead

Kristen Nicole Peters, age 16, of Mount Gilead, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012, following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born on July 19, 1996 in Mount Gilead, Kristen was the daughter of Natasha Fawn (Brown) Peters and the late Shane Peters.  She attended Northmor High School and just completed her freshman year.  There, she was a member of FCCLA, sang in the choir, ran cross country and track, and held her own against the boys on the wrestling team.

Kristen had a dream of opening her own bakery when she was finished with school.  She loved to bake cakes and enjoyed cooking in general.  She seemed to always be eating, especially at her favorite restaurants, Chipotle and the Japanese Steakhouse.  Kristen was growing her first garden this summer and her strawberries and watermelons were growing quite well.

Kristen’s recent passion belonged to her horses, Satin and Willie.  She had been taking many riding lessons and spent as much time as she could in the saddle.

A sweet and outgoing young woman, Kristen will be remembered by everyone whose life she touched.

Kristen will be dearly missed by her mother, Natasha Peters; her sister, Ashley Peters and Dakota Robinson; her brother, Joshua Peters; grandparents: Sonny and Marilyn Brown, Terry Lynn (Styer) Roush and Billy Joseph Roush and David Michael Peters; great grandmothers: Evelyn (Peters) Robinson and Juanita Brown; aunts and uncles: Tabitha and Shane Kohler, David and Angel Brown; Mike and Bobbie Peters, Christy and Chris Steinhelfer, Jason and Sheena Weber, and Terra Strahm; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father Shane Peters, and her great grandparents, Chuck and Pauline Styer.

Kristen’s family will greet friends from 4 – 8 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012, at the Gilead Friends Church, 3613 Twp. Rd. 115, Mount Gilead.  Services celebrating her life will be held there at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday with Pastor Gary Lamb Hart officiating.

Kristen had a very colorful spirit and would not have wanted everyone to wear black and mourn her passing.  Please wear something colorful and help celebrate the wonderful life she lived.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Northmor Running Club to help set up a scholarship in her name.  Contributions may be made in care of the funeral home.

Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead is honored to have been chosen to serve Kristen’s family and your private condolences may be expressed to them by visiting www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
