Paul R. Sullivan, age 55, of Marion and formerly of Piqua, died peacefully on Thursday evening, July 5, 2012, at the Partners of Marion Care Facility following a short illness.
On June 27, 1957, Paul was born in Youngstown, Ohio, the youngest of three children of the late James and Carol (McClay) Sullivan. As a family they moved to Marion for work for his father, when Paul was in kindergarten. He then graduated from Marion Harding High School in the Class of 1975.
Shortly following high school, Paul moved to Piqua, Ohio, where he worked at the Piqua Manor as a STNA for over twenty years.
Wanting to be nearer to his family, Paul returned to Marion in 2006, where he met the love of his life, his partner Lee Wagner. He also worked at the Heartland Nursing Home and was currently working for Cummins Facility Services, helping with their recycling program.
With a heart of gold, Paul cared deeply for his family and friends, and he also especially loved all animals, making an exception for snakes.
Having “the greatest sense of humor”, whenever you were around Paul you could always count on having a good time. You also always knew where you stood with him, as he didn’t mince words and stood up for what he believed. “He had a way of telling you the way it was, but with love.”
He will be dearly missed by his two sisters: Cathy Lindsay, and Jamie (Gerald) Carr; partner, Lee Wagner, all three of Marion; five nieces: Kelly (Frank) Balog of Port Richey, FL, Lyndee Holt, Brandi (Mark) Wilson, Amanda Mabe, all three of Marion, and Carman Slone of Huntington, WV; 11 great nieces and nephews, and one great great niece; many aunts and uncles and cousins, and his special little canine companions: Izzie and Malley.
Services celebrating his life will be held from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 15th, at the VFW Post 3313, 961 N. Main St., Marion. We will celebrate the way Paul would enjoy with family, friends, and food.
Memorial contributions may be made in care of his family to assist with unexpected expenses.
