Walter “Wally” Jones died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Marion General Hospital. The eldest of seven sons, Wally was born, on August 11, 1945, to the late Walter E. and Mary Alice (Honaker) Jones.
Walter graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1965 and then served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS America during the Vietnam War. He was a painting contractor for many years and was the owner-operator of Wally’s Market until it closed in 2009.
Walter is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sherry Jean (Markey), daughter and son-in-law Dawn and James Kneessi, and grandchildren Rachel and Charles of Worthington. He is also survived by five brothers: John (Diane), Paul, Donald (Roslyn), and Raymond (Sue) all of Marion, and Kenneth (Leslie) of Ann Arbor, Michigan; his brother David died at the age of 5 in 1952.
As per Walter’s wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral service. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Gunder Hall & Folk Funeral Directors are handling arrangements.
