Edward Lynn Baer, age 76, of Marion and a resident of the Marion Community Healthcare Center, died on September 23, 2012 (his Mother’s Birthday) at Marion General Hospital, Marion, Ohio.
He was born March 29, 1935, in Marion, the fifth child of Linus A. and Margaret Eldeen Baer.
As a child he was in a body cast for 6 years, he had multiple surgeries, and was home schooled by Mrs. Roost. He recovered enough to go to Harding High School and graduate with his class in 1954. He also got to play the part of a handicapped person in their Senior play.
He later was able to take driving lessons, get a car, and have it adapted for a handicap driver. He used to like to “shoot the loop”. He was employed by Greyhound Lines, WMRN, and Tecumseh as his health allowed. He was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church which is now Crosswoods United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mort of Lima, Ohio and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Baer of Marion, Ohio; a brother Eugene L. Baer of Marion; 2 sisters, Francis Baer of Marion and Dorothy Baer Isett of Florida.
He is survived by one brother, Reverend Robert D. Baer (Joanne) of Virginia, 2 sisters in law, Joanne Baer of Virginia and Donna Baer of Marion; one niece Debbie Baer Humes (Bruce) of Toledo, nephews David (Lynn) Baer of Marion, Mark (Linda) Baer of Georgia and Lt. Col. Timothy Baer of Virginia. There are also multiple great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, September 29, 2012, between 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger and Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion, Ohio. The Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with the Reverend Robert Baer officiating. Interment will follow at the Grand Prairie Cemetery.
If so desired, memorials can be presented to Crosswoods United Methodist Church.
