Robert E. “Bob” Wood age 80 of Marion, Ohio, passed away Thursday October 4, 2012 at Marion General Hospital.
He was born February 8, 1932 in Marion to the late Howard and Eva (Richardson) Wood.
On September 7, 1955 in New Bloomington, Ohio, Bob married Doretta M. Hopkins and they have had 57 years of marriage together and she survives.
Bob was a farmer all of his life and truly loved his farming. In earlier years he also was a carpet layer for the former Holiday Rug Co. He was a member of the Meeker United Methodist Church, and he was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Bob was a definite family man, and he very much enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren.
Also surviving Bob is a daughter and a son; Teresa L. (Ron) Cook of Marion, Ohio, and Randy A. (Debra) Wood of Prattville, Ala.; And seven grandchildren; Dawn (Casey) Meloy, Trinity (Layne) Burns, Stephanie (Jason) Metzger, Jenny Wood, Michael (Rebecca) Wood, Aaron Cook, and Aubrey (Andre) Cook, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Three nieces and one nephew also survive.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren and Lowell.
There will be a funeral service for Bob on Tuesday October 9, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Chaplain Daniel Kiger. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Military Rites by the Marion County United Veterans Council. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday October 8, 2012 from 2 to 6 P.M.
