Thomas J. Ferguson age 92 of Richwood, died late Monday evening at the Milcrest Nursing Center in Marysville.
He was born December 15, 1919 in Fairfield, Illinois to the late Lymon and Mary (Williamson) Ferguson; he was named after his grandfather who came to America from Scotland.
He was also predeceased by his loving wife Muriel Wynell (Shaw) Ferguson, they were married in Albion, Illinois on March 3, 1945 and she died September 28, 2011.
Tom had worked for his father-in-law’s company, J.P. Shaw Construction, they were responsible for building many of the grain elevators in the area including one in Richwood, he then went to work for C & H Concrete Floors of Prospect, working as a concrete finisher, when he retired from this he continued to work for over 10 yrs for Union County.
Tom, along with his son had a passion for sports, he could usually be found either at a sporting event or watching one on television, he loved football (the Cincinnati Bengals), Baseball (the Reds, Indians and Cardinals) and Basketball. Tom was a huge supporter of North Union Sports as well. When he was younger, he enjoyed hunting in Illinois.
He is survived by his son, Roger “Fergie” Ferguson, Richwood; a brother-in-law, Bill (Darlene) Shaw, Virginia Beach, Virginia and many close nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by nine sisters.
Friends may call Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 4-7 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 am. Pastor Matthew Craig will officiate; burial will follow in the Claibourne Cemetery.
