Earl E. Smith Sr. age 88 of Marion, Ohio formerly of East Liverpool, Ohio passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Marion Manor Nursing Home.
He was born November 17, 1923 in East Liverpool, Ohio to the late Ralph E. and Elsie M. (Deakin) Smith.
On October 17, 1943 in Chester, West Virginia, he married Hilda L. (Brown) Smith, she preceded him in death on June 28, 2011.
Earl was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII, he was a resident of Marion, Ohio for the eighteen years where he was a member of Central Christian Church and the Pleasant Senior Citizens. He was employed at Penn Power in Shipping Port, Pa., as an instrument repair technician, he retired in 1987.
He is survived by his son, Earl E. (Diana) Smith Jr. of Alvin, Tx., son in law, Sam Sandefur of Marion, Oh., six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, his brother, Gene Smith of Chester, W.Va., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, Kathy Sandefur, two brothers, Ralph and Dennis Smith, two sisters, Odessa Smith and Vioma Stevens.
Funeral services for Earl will be held Friday, November 9, 2012 @ 1 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Pastor Merlyn Winters officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery with the Marion County Veterans Council conducting a military service. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 5 – 8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
