James E. “Jim” Dawson age 78 of Marion, Ohio passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at Partners of Marion Care and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born January 8, 1934 in Waldo, Ohio to the late Emmett Dawson and Violet Smith.
Jim was a member of Orton Street Enterprise Baptist Church and the Ridgedale Lions Club, he retired from Eaton Forge Division in Marion. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, was discharged from the Army in 1956 as a member of the 1st Green Brea Unit.
His hobbies were his dogs, golf and bowling in that order.
Jim is survived by his wife the former Lora Lea Sisson, daughter, Audrey Pierce, son, Randy (Jackie) Dawson and step son, Charles (Beth) Sisson of Marion, step daughter, Tanya (David) Leonard of Upper Sandusky, grandchildren, Angie (Heath) Ring of Westerville, Sean (Mary) Monahan, Brttani (Jeremy) Dunn of Marion, Bethani (Matt) Cross of Texas, Tom Sisson of Bucyrus, Ryan Sisson, Emily Sisson of Marion, Erikah Sisson of South Carolina, JC Sisson of Tennessee and Noah Leonard of Upper Sandusky, eight great grandchildren and his brother, Joe (Pam) Dawson.
He was preceded in death by his step father, Odel Smith, sister, Dorothy Galati, the mother of his children, Jane Dawson and step son, John Sisson.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2012 @ 11 AM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Buckner officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with the Marion County Veterans Council conducting military rites. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 5 – 8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
