John “Marvin” Nolan, 82, of Marion

John “Marvin” NolanJohn “Marvin” Nolan, 82, passed away Thursday, November 15th at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by his family after battling a stroke.

John was born on December 25th, 1929 in Lando, South Carolina to Leroy and Lilie (Dixon) Nolan.  He graduated from Charlotte Central High School in 1947 and from The Ohio State University in 1994.

John married Betty Joan Thrower of Charlotte, North Carolina in 1949 and was married for 63 years.  John was in Sales for over 50 years and was recognized nationally for his contributions to each company he served.  He was the past President of Toast Master’s, an avid member of the Y Men’s Organization and a Deacon in his church.

John is survived by his wife Joan Nolan, two sisters Rebecca Grant and Nancy Nolan, four daughters Marcia Thompson, Teresa Meilstrup, Cathy Bush, Amy El-Hindi, son Jon Nolan, twelve grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Lonnie Nolan, Jerry Nolan and Bill Nolan, and three sisters Mildred Phillips, Flonnie James, and Etta Dulin.

John was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to all.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Gunder Hall & Folk Funeral Directors, 347 West Center Street, Marion, Ohio 43302 this Saturday, November 17th.  A memorial service celebrating his life and those he touched will be held from 1:00pm – 1:30pm following the visitation.  Pastor Michael Reynolds will be officiating.
