Amy Sue (McGowan) SmothermanAmy Sue (McGowan) Smotherman, 44, died at 6:21 a.m. on December 6, 2012, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, OH.

Amy was born December 7, 1967, in Crestline, OH, to Michael S. McGowan and Bonita (Bonnie) Smith McGowan. Amy married Robert (Rob) Smotherman on May 12, 1990, in Marion.

Amy graduated in 1986 from Ridgedale High School and Tri-Rivers. She began working at McDonald’s while in high school. She also worked for Dr. Drake in Richwood, OH, and for approximately 15 years at Honda of America in Marysville, OH. Amy was a Team Leader at Honda for a number of years. She attended Fite Memorial Baptist Church, enjoyed Nascar racing, sports, music, camping, family gatherings and cooking.

Amy is survived by her parents, her husband, her daughters, Elizabeth Smotherman (Jamie) McGraw of Mt. Gilead, Trisha Smotherman (Corey) Marley of Marion; her granddaughter, Iris Raine McGraw; her brother, M. Troy (Jennifer) McGowan of Mansfield; her niece, Zoe and nephews, Logan and Luke McGowan of Mansfield; three aunts, Rita (McGowan) Jones of Rockport, TX; Vicky (Mel) Lauer of Prospect, OH; Tami (Smith) Potts of Marion; three uncles, Loren (Susie) Smith; Denny (Brenda) Smith; and John (Brenda) McGowan, all of Marion. She was the daughter-in-law of Billie Greer of Columbus, OH; sister-in-law of Jerry Smotherman of Arizona, Harry (Karen) Smotherman of Cardington, and Debra (Paul) Heimann of Columbus. Amy loved to spend time with her special little friends along with granddaughter Iris McGraw–Jamison Potts, and ZeZe Daily. Amy is also survived by her three beloved pets, Peanut, Brittle, and Belle.

Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Sunday, December 9, 2012, from 2-5 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. David Carlyle on Monday, December 10, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, with burial at a later date.
