Dorothy M. Young, age 87, passed away on Friday evening December 14, 2012 at the Marion General Hospital.
Dorothy was born in Marion on June 20, 1925, the daughter of A.D. and Myrtle (Ruehrmund) Kaufman.
She was a graduate of Pleasant High School.
On March 17, 1947, Dorothy was united in marriage to Edmund E. Young in Marion.
She worked for Ogden Foods in the Whirlpool Cafeteria. Dorothy loved being in the kitchen. She took great pleasure in making sure all of her beloved family was always well fed and taken care of. She will be remembered for her famous cookies that she made thousands of. She also had a knack for crafts including making her own Christmas decorations. Dorothy was a faithful member of the Epworth United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children: Barbara (Donald) Brown, Theresa (Walter) Columber and Daniel R. Young; Grandchildren: Lisa, Aaron (Nichole), Donald (Jessica), Jeremy (Shannon) and Edmund; Great grandchildren: Jacob, Evelyn, Jared and Ashlea; Siblings: Mildred (Kenneth) Osburn and Helen Kaufman; she is also survived by a host of friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edmund E. Young and her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and William McClain.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center St., Marion from 4PM to 7PM; Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:30AM with Rev. Dan Kiger officiating. Burial will be in the Marion Cemetery.
