Dwight D. Wiley, 38, formerly of Cardington

Dwight D. Wiley“Yes, my soul, find rest in God;  my hope comes from him.  Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.  My salvation and my honor depend on God;  he is my mighty rock, my refuge.  Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”  Psalm 62: 5-8

Dwight D. Wiley, age 38, of Bucyrus and formerly of Cardington, went to be with the Lord, dying unexpectedly, Friday evening, December 21, 2012, at the Knox Community Hospital following a brief illness.

On May 2, 1974, Dwight was born in Marion General Hospital, the only child of Burns and Sue (Crace) Wiley.  He was raised in Morrow County, and he graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 1992.

Furthering his education, Dwight attended the Ohio State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics in, graduating in 1997.

For over 10 years, Dwight has lived in Bucyrus and worked at Cardington Yutaka Technologies, where he was a dedicated, dependable and hard worker.

A man of deep faith, Dwight had been attending the Genoa Baptist Church in Westerville.

To say Dwight was a sports nut would be quite an understatement.  Always talking sports, he was a proud OSU alum and member of their alumni club, and attended any game he could get tickets to.  He also enjoyed rooting for the Kentucky Wildcats, and Georgia Bulldogs.

Quiet until you got to know him, Dwight was quite the jokester, always trying to get a rise out of you.

Most important of all to Dwight was his children, Kendra and Izaiah, and he cherished every moment spent with them.  He often tried to take them on special fun adventures to places like King’s Island and Cedar Point, and loved taking them to dinner.

He will be dearly missed by his two children: Kendra and Izaiah Wiley; his parents: Burns and Sue Wiley of Cardington; three cousins who were more like brothers and sisters to him: Melody (John) Ralston of Sunbury, Jason (Shannon) Fletcher, and Jon (Charlotte) Fletcher, both of Edison, and their children: Gavin and Taylor Ralston, and Lane Fletcher; and many more cousins.

His family will greet friends from 4 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead.  Services honoring his life will also be held there on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ed Colegrove officiating.  Burial services will be observed privately by his family in Marengo Cemetery.

Just as Dwight would want, his family requests that everyone wear scarlet and gray to celebrate his love for Ohio State.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dwight Wiley Scholarship Fund, which will be used for his children’s college education, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.

Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead is honored to have been chosen to serve Dwight’s family and your private condolences may be expressed to them by visiting www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6: 33-34  Following this verse in his Bible, Dwight wrote “Strive for Him!”
