Francis Nathaniel Adams, USAR, age 70 of Marion, Ohio passed away On Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Marion General Hospital following a brief illness.
He served in the U.S. Army for twenty-two years before his military retirement. While in the service to his country he was awarded fifty-two awards, citations and medals, including four Purple Hearts, Bronze Star with D/Device, Silver Star with D/Device and the Cross of Gallantry from Vietnam.
A Highly decorated soldier his last duty station was Fort Hauchuca Military Intel School serving as the Command Sgt.Major. Upon retirement he returned to his home town of Marion with his family.
He leaves behind his daughter, Jennifer (John) Yeoman, son, Jeffrey (Wendy) Adams, six grandchildren, his brother, Cecil Adams, sister Luella Imboden. He was preceded in death by his step father, Edward McKenzie, his mother, Dorothy McKenzie and his brother Virgil Adams.
Francis was a member of the Combat Infantry Association, life member of VFW, American Legion #162, Amvets #138, Army/Navy Garison #137, Moose Lodge, Eagles, 40 et 8 and the ASCP.
In civilian life he worked for Siemens Ellis in Marysville from which he also retired, following that employment he worked for Wackenhut Security and Springborn Lab as security management.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Francis will be Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 1 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Chaplain Lt. Col. Dan Burris officiating with Full Military Honors by the U.S. Army. Burial will take place at a later date.
