Frank Nagy, age 76, of Marion (formerly of Akron), Ohio, died peacefully Tuesday evening, December 4, 2012, following an extended illness.
On January 16, 1936, Frank was born in Becej, Yugoslavia, one of two children of the late Sandor and Julijana (Dorman) Nagy.
After high school, he served two years in the Hungarian military. Frank moved to Akron, Ohio, in the mid 1960’s in search of opportunity. Soon after arriving there, Frank met Veturia (Susman). They were married on February 20, 1971.
Frank who always wanted a family, adopted Veturia’s son Sandu and was a wonderful father to him. Together Frank and Veturia shared over 35 wonderful years of marriage until she preceded him in death on January 6, 2006.
After losing his wife in 2006, Frank moved to Marion, Ohio, to be nearer to his son and daughter-in-law.
Frank was a machinist at the Alcon Tool Company in Akron, for over 35 years until his retirement. The term “gone fishing” was appropriate for Frank, as he went on fishing trips as often as he could to a wide variety of places. He especially enjoyed two week fishing trips to Canada in the summer with Sandu.
Curious about what made things “tick”, Frank could often be found tinkering with watches and clocks. A “jokester”, Frank was always teasing and joking around with everyone. Having a heart of gold, Frank never said anything bad about anyone and always found the best in people.
He will be dearly missed by his son and daughter-in-law, Sandu and Sarah (Boyd) Nagy of Marion, Ohio; two grandchildren: Ashley and Alex Morton; sister, Julia Sagi, of Becej, Yugoslavia; other family, friends and a beloved canine companion, Hector.
A Memorial service celebrating Frank’s life will be held on Saturday, December 15th, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Romanian Baptist Church, 1243 Boettler Rd., Uniontown, Ohio, 44685.
The family would like to thank the staff at Marion General Hospital that took care of Frank over the last six years, especially the nursing and respiratory therapy staff. The family would also like to thank Carol Reed, of Interim Healthcare who provided loving care to Frank for many years. Finally, the family would like to thank Dr. Mark Davis, who cared for Frank as if he was his own family member.
