William P. Blankenship, age 86, of Marion passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at 6:45 p.m. in the Riverside Hospital, Columbus.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 9, 1926 to Oscar and Elizabeth (Gildea) Blankenship.
He served in the U.S.Navy during WWII. William work at Marion Steel Co. for 35 years before his retirement.
He is survived by his ex-wife; Grace Blankenship of Marion, a son; Roger (Cathy) Blankenship of Marion, 2 daughters; Bonnie Lou (Tim) Ratcliff of Cattlesburk, K;y. & Kimberly Blankenship of Marion, 2 brothers; Charles (Patricia) Blankenship & David Blankenship both of Marion, 1 sister; June (Floyd) Webb of Fort Pierce, Fl. 7 grandchildren; Cortney Hoskins, Travis Fradd, Sherry Carpenter, Kayla & Crystal Galleher, James Patten, & Dillon Blankenship, along with 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Carrol Blankenship, and a sister; Jewel Roth.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, from 10-11 a.m. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in the Green Camp Cemetery with Pastor Jim Dutton officiating.
