Phillip S. Southward, age 70, of Marion, died January 14, 2013 at Marion General Hospital.
Philip was born February 16, 1942 in Marion, OH to the late Earl O and Senora E (Hess).
He married Jodene L. Wood on June 27, 1998.
Phillip retired after forty years from the Whirlpool Corporation and for the past four years was employed at the Marion City School-Transportation Department as a bus aide.
Phillip proudly served his country in The United States Air Force; he was the current president of the Marion Highlands Housing Association, and a member and trustee of the Grace Baptist Church, where he enjoyed running the sound system during services. He was an avid Buckeye fan and above all enjoyed spending time with his family.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Jodene; children, David (Dawn Hutchinson) Southward and Tanya Southward; step-children, Jason (Connie) West, Kellie (James) Roush; grandchildren, Brenna and Audrey Southward, Ryan Stewart, James Jr., Travis and Reed Roush, Corbin and Dillon West, Amber and Zach Smith, Ethan and Gabe Hedrick, and Ellie Hutchinson; many cousins and special friends Rick Brake, Bill Middleton, and Calvin Williams.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors from 2 to 4PM and 6 to 8PM. A funeral service will be held 10:30AM Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Grace Baptist Church, 1560 Marion-Marysville Rd., Marion, OH 43302 with Pastor Worden officiating. Burial will follow in the Marion Cemetery with Military Honors performed by Marion County United Veterans Council.
