Clinton W. Mills, age 19, of Kansas City, Missouri, and formerly of Mount Gilead, went to be with the Lord, Thursday afternoon, February 21, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital, following a brief illness.
On May 6, 1993, Clinton was born in Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Paul and Deborah (Kirk) Mills.
A joy to be around, Clinton enjoyed going to school at Whetstone, Mount Gilead and Cardington until he moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 2010. During his time in Missouri, he enjoyed attending the Maple Valley State School for the Handicap.
Having participated in the Special Olympics, one of Clinton’s proudest achievements was getting first place in archery. He also enjoyed bowling and swimming.
An avid NASCAR fan, Clinton loved watching NASCAR and going to the races at Kansas Speedway with his parents. He also loved rooting on his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, watching his favorite show, Family Feud, and listening to country music.
Sharing a special bond with his mother, Clinton loved to be read to, which she did with him every night.
Always smiling and happy, Clinton loved to say “hi” to anyone who crossed his path. Even though he was limited in what he could say and do, he was still able to say “I Love You”…which he did often.
Clinton will be dearly missed by his parents: Paul and Debbie Mills of Kansas City, Missouri; paternal grandparents: William and Vanessa Mills of Mount Gilead; maternal grandparents: Dwight Kirk of Mount Gilead, and Judy (Rick) Manley of Wooster; one uncle and three aunts: Michael Kirk of Mount Gilead, Carmen (Aaron) Casto of Cardington, Rachel Mills of Mount Gilead, and Joslyn (Phil) Thompson of Switzerland; and numerous cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his identical twin brother.
The Mills family will greet friends from 2 – 4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services celebrating his homecoming will be held at Friends Church on Friday at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Brian Mosher officiating. Burial will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery in Mount Gilead.
Following his services, family and friends are invited to a reception at the Friends Church.
Due to Clinton’s love of reading, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Gilead Library.
