Inez S. Edwards, 93, formerly of Mount Gilead

Inez S. Edwards, age 93, formerly of Mount Gilead, went to be with her husband and Lord, Tuesday morning, February 19, 2013, at Marion General Hospital, following complications from a recent fall.

On August 17, 1919, Inez was born in Dickenson County, Virginia, one of ten children of the late James and Ida Sutherland.

Inez married the love of her life, Clinton Edwards, on February 26, 1942, in Pikeville, Kentucky.  They shared nearly 17 years together and lovingly raised two sons: Clinton and Garry.  He preceded her in death on February 14, 1959.

For 23 years, Inez worked at Essex Wire in Lexington, until she retired in 1985.

A woman of faith, Inez often studied her Bible.  She also enjoyed reading, crocheting and gardening.

An excellent cook, Inez enjoyed making their Sunday and Holiday meals very special for her family, with her apple pie being her family’s favorite of her dishes.

A very strong and independent woman, Inez liked to do things her way.  She also was a product of the depression, and made use of everything.

She will be dearly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Clinton W. and Judy Edwards of Mount Gilead; four grandchildren: Andrew (Melissa) Edwards, Lisa (Shawn) Sandy, Daniel (Crystal) Edwards and David (Brittany) Edwards; four great-grandchildren: Abby and A.J. Edwards, and Ryan and Paige Sandy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including her husband and parents, Inez was preceded in death by her son, Garry Edwards in 1955; three brothers: Granville, Ray and Chall Sutherland; and six sisters: June Riley, Dovie Bowen, Pearl Honaker, Winnie Edwards, Mae Sutherland and Irva Sutherland.

The Edwards family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead.  Services honoring her life will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., at the Owl Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 7397 County Road 22 (Waterford Road), Fredericktown, Ohio 43019, with Elders Darvin Edwards and Jack Griffith officiating.  Burial will follow in North Fork Cemetery, behind the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Owl Creek Harmony Association, and it may be sent to the care of the funeral home.

Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Gilead is honored to have been chosen to serve Inez’s family and your private condolences may be expressed to them by visiting www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
