Louise T. Jordan, age 94, went to be with her husband and the Lord Monday morning, February 4th, 2013, at the Sterling House in Marion, Ohio, following an extended illness.
On October 25, 1918, Louise and her twin brother, Melville, were born in Oklahoma City, OK, to Harley and Edith (Bowers) Thompson.
A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Louise was very active there as a football cheerleader, and a member of the diving and swimming teams. During this time, she met her husband to be, Emerson “Spike” Jordan, who was attending their rival school, Oklahoma University. Nevertheless, they were married on December 23, 1942, and shared a long and happy marriage of nearly 60 years and lovingly raising two children: Mary Ann and Robert. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2002.
Dedicated to her family, Louise enjoyed her life as a homemaker, and assisted Emerson in his oil career and Budget Rent-A-Car business. She lived to take care of her family, and loved cooking for them.
A woman of deep faith, Louise has attended many churches at the different places she and Em lived. Most recently, she enjoyed attending the Grand Prairie Baptist Church in Marion.
Having a lifelong passion for swimming, Louise always made time for swimming as often as she could.
A blessing to all who knew her, Louise cared deeply for her family and friends, always trying to lift the spirits of everyone around her.
She will be dearly missed by her two children: Mary Ann (Larry R.) Faulkner of Austin, TX, and Robert E. (Janice) Jordan of Marion, OH; six grandchildren: Brian (Jackie) Faulkner, Susan Faulkner, Bradley (Kirsten) Jordan, Brent (Heather) Jordan, Timothy (Leslie) Jordan, and Aaron (Jessica) Jordan; eight great-grandchildren and a step great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
Including her husband and parents, Louise was preceded in death by her twin brother, Melville Thompson; and two sisters: Elizabeth McMullen and Jeanette Eisler.
Her family will greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday, February 8th, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion, where a celebration of her life will follow at 7 p.m., with Rev. Gene Parker officiating.
Her family will again greet friends from 1 – 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 10th, at the Mercer Adams Funeral Home, 3925 N. Asbury Ave., Bethany, OK, where a celebration of her life will follow at 3 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 11th, at 10 a.m. at the Fairlawn Cemetery, Oklahoma City, OK.
