Robert Neil Heil fought the good fight and finished his race and now is in the presence of his Creator. He passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 8, 2013 at the age of 81.
Bob was born on June 6, 1931, the son of Dale C. and Emma (Long) Heil. Bob graduated from Kenton High School in the class of 1949.
In 1960, he graduated from a school in Chicago where he learned to be a Tool & Die Designer and worked that profession for 32 years.
Bob proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He served in the 235th Field Artillery Battalion.
On May 26, 1953, Bob was united in marriage to Marjorie Williams in the First Presbyterian Church of Marion. Together they have shared 60 years of marriage.
For the last 20 years, Bob has thoroughly enjoyed helping his nephew farm his land. He will also be remembered for his love of working puzzles, working in his yard, playing Poker or Shanghai and most of all spending time with his family.
Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, where he served as a trustee and deacon. He truly enjoyed his church family and all the close friends there.
He is survived by his devoted wife Marjorie Heil; his children: Douglas Heil of Radnor, Karla (Jeff) Hack of Marion and Karen (John) Ikard of Littleton, CO; grandchildren: Andrea (Monte) Johnson, Lindsay (Brandon) Hagemann, Christina Ikard, Jenny Ikard, Johnny Ikard and Amanda Ikard; Great grandchildren: Makenzie and Adriana Johnson; step grandson Ben Hack; Siblings: Guy Heil, Dorothy Frater and Gladys Clement.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Twylah Keller, Maxine Smith and Claradell Keller.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church, 143 S. Prospect St., Marion from 5-6:30PM; Memorial services will immediately follow at 6:30PM with Rev. Rob Howard officiating.
