Shirley L. Stambaugh, age 77 of Mt. Gilead passed away Friday, February 8, 2013 at home while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on October 19, 1935 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Alvy and Hazel (Austin) Nininger.
A graduate of Marengo High School in 1955, she lived most of her life in Morrow and Delaware Counties. Shirley retired from Mettler Toledo, where she worked as a scale assembler.
Forever the care giver, she was always concerned about the needs of others, especially her treasured family. Quick witted, she had a stubborn streak, but was generous in countless ways. Always placing the needs of others before her own, she did what she thought was best for her family and their interests.
When able she attended the Olive Green Church of Christ in Christian Union and was a member of the former East Liberty Grange. She enjoyed word find puzzles and 3-D puzzles. Her Chihuahua; Pebbles was her constant companion. It was expressed that “they broke the mold when they made her” and so they did. She was at her best when surrounded by her family and her memory will forever be cherished.
She is survived by her children: Jane (Don) Dudley and Joyce (Raymond) Garner both of Mount Gilead, Lawrence (Dianna) Of New Albany, Jim (Lori) of Fredericktown, Jerry (Colleen) of Centerburg Neva (John) Ellas of Hilliard, Ginny (CW) Rocky of Frazeysburg, son-in-law James Shick of Marengo, 16 Grandchildren, 3 Great-grandchildren, sister Joann Mitchell of Cardington, brothers Bob (Sue) Nininger of LaRue, Thurman “Buz” Nininger of Marengo, Lewis (Thelma) Nininger of Centerburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.
