Mary Lou (Long) Thompson age 77 of Green Camp, Ohio and daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Rosa Alberta (Dray) Long, passed on to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday March 22, 2013.
Twice married, she was married to Richard L. Short, the father of their four children, and presently to Russell Thompson.
She attended the Church of Christ in Christian Union. She has lived in and around Marion all of her life.
She has four children by a previous marriage and five step-children. Her children are Larry Short of Marion, Ohio, Monte (Connie) Short of Somerville, Ohio, Jackie Berry of Marion, Ohio, and Gary (Sandy) Short of Marion, Ohio. Her step-children are Pam Thompson of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Ronald (Debbie) Thompson of Marion, Ohio, Marlene (David) Petty of Mansfield, Ohio, and Steve (Jamie) Thompson of Pickerington, Ohio. Step-daughter, Arlene Starcher is deceased. Also surviving are five grandchildren, twelve step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. There are also several very dear nieces and nephews, and one dear brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Ginny Long of Columbus, Ohio.
Mary’s interests included teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and being the Youth Leader for two years at Home Missionary Holiness Church. She was also the President of the P.T.A. at Edison Middle School. She worked at Marion General Hospital for many years until her marriage to Russell.
Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by three sisters; Floris Baney, Eleanor Walker, and Mazie Reno. Also deceased are five brothers; Robert Long, Clifford Long, Carl Long, Cecil Long, and Merle Long.
Funeral Services for Mary will be on Thursday March 28, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of Christ in Christian Union, 1709 Bellefontaine Ave., Marion, Ohio. Officiating the service will be Rev. David Glauner. Burial will follow in the Caledonia Cemetery. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Wednesday March 27, 2013 from 5 to 8 P.M.
