Jeffery A. “Jeff” Shrader, age 24, of Marengo, died Thursday evening, May 16, 2013, at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus following injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
On December 16, 1988, Jeff was born in Morrow County, the son of Janis M. (Tomlin) Persinger and the late Gerry S. Persinger.
He graduated from Highland High School in the Class of 2007. In 2010 he completed the Harley Davidson tech program at the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.
Jeff served our nation in the Ohio Army National Guard. He was deployed to Afghanistan as a military escort from September 2011 – July 2012.
In his spare time, Jeff loved working on Harley’s, taking them apart and putting them back together. He enjoyed music and playing his numerous guitars. His favorite times were spent just hanging with his friends. He was a very free spirited individual who always got along with everyone.
Jeff will be dearly missed by his mom, Janis M. Persinger, of Marengo; two brothers: Chris Shrader of Marengo, Dustin Shrader of Mount Gilead; a sister, Melaine Shrader of Cardington; his grandmother, Gwen Tomlin of Marengo; an aunt, Elizabeth Scaff of Mount Gilead; 6 nieces and nephews; and several step brothers and sisters.
In addition to his dad, he was preceded in death by an uncle, Robby Tomlin, and his grandfather, Robert L. Tomlin.
Jeff’s family will greet friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Visitation will also be held there on Tuesday from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. with a service celebrating his life following at 1:00 p.m. Following his service, military honors will be provided by the Ohio Army National Guard Honor Guard.
