Sally Ann Indoe, age 83, of Marion, went to be with the Lord, Sunday afternoon, May 19, 2013, at the Morning View Care Center following an extended illness.
On October 1, 1929, Sally Ann was born in Lima, Ohio, one of two children of the late Frederick and Hazel (Grant) Fisher. She graduated from Lima South High School in the Class of 1948.
Growing up, Sally Ann was a member of the Lima Grace Methodist Church, and one summer they took a trip as a church to Lakeside Methodist Institute. The Epworth United Methodist Church of Marion also sent a group, with a young man, Richard “Dick” Indoe, joining them. Sally Ann and Dick quickly became friends, and knew they had something special between the two of them. Following the church conference, they continued their relationship by seeing each other every other Sunday after church and sending each other countless letters. After three years of their long distance relationship, they were united in marriage on July 31, 1949, at the Lima Grace Methodist Church parsonage. They have cherished their 63 years of marriage, dancing every chance they could, and lovingly raising two daughters together, Carol and Connie.
A loving homemaker, Sally Ann took pride in caring for her husband and children, and spoiling her grandchildren. Always there for her family, she never missed any event they ever participated in, and often went an hour early to make sure she had the best seat in the house. She was all of their biggest fans.
With “music being in her blood”, Sally Ann loved to both sing and dance. For nearly 60 years, she enjoyed being a part of the Marion Civic Chorus and singing in their musical, The Messiah. Dancing every opportunity she could, she and Dick danced with their friends at Milano’s in Columbus for well over 15 years and with the Par Dance Club, which they were past presidents of. Her favorite dances were the electric slide and the Macarena, which she always thought was called the “Macaroni”. When dancing as a couple, their favorite dance together was the waltz. They truly were “amazing dancers”.
Dedicated to her church family, Sally Ann was a faithful member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, where she had served as their choir librarian for many years and was past president of the Epworth Women Society. She also was a past member of the Y-Mennett’s Club.
With a love for playing euchre, Sally Ann was a member of the “Town & Country” Euchre Club for many years, and she had served as their treasurer.
A “die hard OSU fan”, Sally Ann loved watching her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. Her favorite part of every game was listening to the band play.
Despite being a little cantankerous and ornery, Sally Ann was a very loving and positive person, who was the pillar of her family. One of a kind, there will never be another Sally Ann Indoe.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Dick Indoe; her daughter, Connie (Robert) King; two grandchildren: Sara Williams and Ryan King; two great-grandchildren: Cameron and Cassidy Williams; a son-in-law, Dick Moore of Prospect; a brother-in-law, Tom (Jewell) Indoe; a sister-in-law, Nancy Jo Dasher, both of Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including her parents, Sally Ann was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Moore on Dec. 12, 2012; her brother, Grant (Ruth) Fisher; and brother-in-law, Gene Dasher.
The Indoe family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to Noon on Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services celebrating her life will follow at Noon, with Rev. Daniel Kiger officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
