Charles Richard LaMarche, 91, of Marion

Charles Richard LaMarcheCharles Richard LaMarche of Marion, Ohio, joined his Lord and Savior on June 1, 2013.

Born on March 12, 1922 in Marion, Ohio, he was the son of the late Faye Huber LaMarche and Carl F. LaMarche, the grandson of Nona Fahey Huber and Frank A. Huber, Clara Catoir LaMarche and Charles Lewis LaMarche and the great grandson of Ellen Fahey and Timothy Fahey, Elizabeth Hammerle Huber and Edward Huber.

He is survived by two sisters, Natalie A. (the late Martin J.) Hughes, Avon, Ohio, and Carolyn (Edward A.) Mantey, Marion, Ohio.  Another sister, Marian F. LaMarche, preceded him in death.

He is also survived by six nephews and two nieces: Carl F. Hughes; Martin J. (Sara M. ‘Sally’) Hughes, III; Paul F. (Robin L.) Hughes; Joseph R. (Teresa A.) Mantey; Timothy J. (Patricia M.) Mantey; Lynn E. Mantey; Mary F. (James N.) Longo, and Susan M. (Douglas R. Herlensky) Mantey.

Eight great nephews, eight great nieces, and a great-great nephew and great-great niece also survive. They include: John L. Hughes, Makéla S. Hughes, Patrick C. Hughes, Timothy F. Hughes, Elizabeth F. Hughes, Jennifer L. (Dean C.) McMahan, Jacqueline N. Mantey, Jacob R. Mantey, Joel R. (Chelsea A.) Mantey, Marc A. Mantey, Jill A. Mantey, Thomas E. Mantey, Katelin M. (Robert W. III) Ahern, James N. Longo, Jr., Sarah F. Longo, Christina E. Longo, Peyton D. McMahan and Morgan G. McMahan.

LaMarche graduated from St. Mary School, Marion, Ohio in 1940 and attended John Carroll University, University Heights, Ohio. He held positions with C.J. Wilson’s, Delaware, Ohio and Arro Expansion Bolt Company, Marion, Ohio and lived for several years in New York City.

He thoroughly enjoyed Put-In-Bay, Ohio, where he spent summers as a child and an adult. LaMarche also enjoyed listening to opera music and attending opera performances.

LaMarche was a member of St. Mary Parish, the Knights of Columbus and the Edward Huber Memorial Association.

The family of Richard LaMarche, who battled epilepsy for most of his life, would like to extend a sincere and absolute thank you to the caregivers and medical staff who helped provide comfort, love and understanding to Richard.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 6, 2013, 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church 251 North Main Street, Marion, Ohio. Burial will follow in the Huber Family plot in St. Mary Cemetery, 763 Delaware Ave, Marion, Ohio. www.marionstmary.org.

Friends may pay their respects Wednesday, June 5, 2013, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Gunder/Hall and Folk Funeral Directors, 347 West Center Street, Marion, Ohio.
