Charlie Janel Haefer, went to be with the Angels in Heaven, Monday afternoon, June 3, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family. She recently celebrated her 14th birthday.
On May 14, 1999, Charlie was born at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, the daughter of Tamara (Smith) Thomas and Kenneth Smith.
Charlie enjoyed attending school with her friends at North Union, until the 4th grade when she was no longer able due to her health.
Loving to watch cartoons, Charlie could watch Scooby Doo, Sponge Bob Square Pants, and Fish Hooks, all day every day. She also loved listening to music, with her favorites being country and celtic music, but she also had a place in her heart for her uncle Dave’s heavy metal music he would play for her.
Always wanting to be the center of attention, Charlie had her own way of getting you to notice her. Then when you did, she would melt you with her precious smile that made you fall in love with her all over again. Even though she was only here for a short time, she made an impression on her family and friends hearts that will last a life time.
She will forever be missed by her mother: Tamara (Daniel) Thomas of Richwood; father, Kenneth Smith of New Bloomington; two brothers and one sister: Josh Smith, Sierra Smith and Travis Haefer; maternal grandfather, William Smith of Green Camp; paternal grandparents: Gloria and Charles Smith of New Bloomington; step-grandparents: Mike and Jesse Thomas of Richwood; a special uncle, William “Dave” (Melissa Rowe) Smith Jr.; a special aunt, Jennifer (Neil Doty) Good; and many many more dear aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Tannya Straw.
Her family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. A special balloon release in her honor will follow there at 7:15 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home, to help her family with funeral expenses.
