Helene Spradlin, age 64 of Prospect, OH, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday evening at her residence, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born August 13, 1948 in Ivel, KY. She was the daughter of the late Roland and Helen Beartrice (Lewis) Hunt.
Helene married her childhood sweetheart, Hurley Spradlin, in March of 1965, and he survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Melissa (John) Ogan of Marion, and Amy (Brian) Conley of Prospect, OH, two grandchildren, Casey and Lauren Ogan of Marion, and a brother, Robert Hunt of Banner, KY. Besides her parents, Helene was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sydney Conley, and a brother, Bobby Hunt.
Helene loved the Lord and was a long-time member of the First Freewill Baptist Church. She was retired from Marion General Hospital where she worked in the dietary department.
Helene enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, traveling, cooking, and spoiling her grandchildren. She could often be found leafing through a cookbook, looking for a new recipe to try.
Funeral services for Helene will be on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 11 AM at the First Freewill Baptist Church located at 1449 Crissinger Rd., Marion. Officiating the service will be Pastor Jerry Copley. Burial will follow at the Caledonia Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the church from 2-9 PM.
