Sandra L. “Sandy” Creasap, 67, of Mount Gilead

Sandra L. “Sandy” Creasap, age 67, of Mount Gilead, died Tuesday morning, July 23, 2013, at the Morrow County Hospital after a battle with mandibular cancer.

On June 27, 1946, Sandy was born in Galion, Ohio, the daughter of the late Albert A. “Buck” and Betty J. (Taylor) Staley.  She graduated from Highland High School in the Class of 1964 and then furthered her education, completing nursing school and obtaining her L.P.N. license.

On January 25, 1963, Sandy married her high school sweetheart, Duane Dale Creasap, in Lansing, Michigan.  They shared that special bond for over 50 years, celebrating their Golden Anniversary this past January.

Sandy began her nursing career by working as an aid at the Morrow County Hospital.  Once she became a L.P.N., she took a position at Med Center in Marion (now the Smith Clinic).  Her specialty and passion was working in the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center there.  She finished her career in the same area at the Morrow County Jail.

Family meant the world to Sandy.  In her younger years, she and Duane enjoyed many camping trips with their family.  She adored spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Sandy would relax outdoors by working in her flower garden or playing with her two Jack Russell Terriers, Jackie and Jill.  Sandy was the absolute best wife, mother, and grandmother her family could ask for.

Sandy will be dearly missed by her husband, Duane Creasap, of Mount Gilead; her son, Dale Creasap of Cardington; her daughter, Beth (Scott) Martin of Edison; four grandchildren: Dustin Creasap of Mount Gilead, Ryan (Lindsay) Creasap of Mount Gilead, Zach (Julie) Martin of Caledonia, Alyssa Martin of Edison; four great grandchildren: Bryce, Shelby, Riley, Hunter; a sister-in-law, Annette Staley of Mount Gilead; and two nephews: Gary and Brian Staley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Staley.

The Creasap family will greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013, at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St., Mount Gilead.  Services celebrating her life will be held there at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013 with Pastor Jeannie Winters officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5555 Frantz Rd., Dublin, OH 43017.
