Wesley E. Marquis, age 83, of Marion, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 at Presidential Center Genesis HealthCare, surrounded by his family.
Wesley was born October 26, 1929 to the late Willis Raymond and Mildred Fern (McAdams) Marquis in Marion where he was a life-long resident.
He graduated from Harding High School with the class of 1947.
On February 27, 1949 in Russell, KY, he married Shirley R. (Haberman) Marquis who survives.
Wesley was a signal Maintainer for the Erie Lackawana railroad and Conrail for 32 years before he retired. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed woodworking in his retirement years, loved watching the Buckeyes, and was a member of the Marion Senior Citizens.
Besides his parents, Wesley was preceded in death by his son, Steven A. Marquis, his sister, Alice F. Bailey, and his brother, Bill L. Marquis. Along with his wife, Shirley, Wesley is survived by his son, Chuck R. Marquis, his grandchildren, Brandon E. Marquis, Stephanie R. Marquis, and Danielle J. Marquis, a great-granddaughter, Brianna Marquis, his brother, Larry D. Marquis, sister-in-law Marlene Marquis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for Wesley will be observed on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 10AM to 12PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. The funeral service is scheduled at noon, also at the funeral Home, with the Rev. David DiPietro presiding. Interment will immediately follow at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
