Margaret I. (Bauer) McCoy, 91, of Marion

Our loving mother, Margaret I. (Bauer) McCoy of Marion passed away on the 6th day of August, 2013 at the Kingston of Marion residence.  She was born May 5th, 1922, in Marion County to the late George and Laverne (Black) Bauer.

She made her home with her grandparents, Isaac and Bertha Bauer, and graduated from New Bloomington High School.

Margaret met Howard E. McCoy, also of Marion, and they were married in Seattle, Washington January 11th, 1943, while Howard was in the Army.  He passed away on October 13th, 1983.

Margaret was an active and devoted member of the Trinity Baptist Church, serving there throughout her life as a Deaconess, Sunday School teacher, Bible School and Youth group assistant, Church Trustee, as well as a member of the United Sunday School Class, Victorian Christianson Circle, Wednesday Morning Coffee Group, and an avid euchre player at the Pleasant Senior Center.

She had been employed at Pleasant Local Schools, and with Hinaman and Shroats Nationwide Insurance Agency.  During World War II, Margaret served as a keypunch operator at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

Margaret is survived by daughters Sue Ann (Charles A.) Huber of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Teri (Teresa) (Ron) Turner of Marion, Ohio, as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her sister, Lois (Harry) Rhodes of Crestline, Ohio, and brother, Leroy (Mary Lou) of North Port, Florida.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at Trinity Baptist Church 244 South Main St., Marion, on August 13th 2013, at 11:00 am with Dr. Richard Farmer officiating.  Burial will follow at the Agosta Cemetery in New Bloomington, Ohio.  Friends and loved ones may visit with the family at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home at 122 W. Columbia St., Marion on Monday, August 12th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm and on Tuesday, 10 am until service time.

The family expresses deep gratitude for the loving attention and care from the Kingston Staff and the Marion General Hospice staff.

Contribution in Margaret’s memory may be made to Trinity Baptist Church’s organ and Piano Fund, the Salvation Army, and the Marion General Hospice.
