Jane E. Snyder, 87, of Waldo

Jane E. SnyderJane E. Snyder, age 87, of Waldo, passed away early Thursday morning, November 7, 2013, at the Marion General Hospital following an extended illness.

On March 8, 1926, Jane was born at home in Marion, Ohio, one of four children of the late George and Harriett (Simmons) Dutt.  She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Marion in the Class of 1944.

In 1947, she married George W. “Bill” Snyder in Marion.  Their marriage lasted nearly 66 years, and he survives her and resides at Marion Manor.

Dedicated to the Waldo community, Jane served as mayor and city councilwoman there.  She also worked for several years at Fulfillment.  She was a member of the Waldo American Legion Auxiliary.

Thoroughly enjoying life, Jane loved movies, books, golfing at Kings Mill, and traveling.  She also took great pride and joy in her children and grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, George W. Snyder of Marion; three children: John (Nancy) Snyder of Wichita, Kansas, Thomas Snyder of Marion, and Kathy (Jim) Swalwell of Waldo; six grandchildren: Dr. Ryan Snyder, Cary Snyder, Kyle Snyder, Scotty (Ashley) Snyder, and Allison (Dan) Mink; one great-grandchild, Lila Mae Postell; a brother-in-law, Bob Spaeth of Marion; and many nieces and nephews.

Including her parents, Jane was preceded in death by two sisters: Virginia Hale and Mary Jean Spaeth; and a brother, Richard Dutt.

Her family will greet friends from 1 – 2 p.m. on Monday, November 11th, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion.  Services honoring her life will immediately follow at her graveside in Marion Cemetery, with Lay Minister Mike Fogle officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ft. Morrow Fire District, 306 N. Marion St., Waldo, OH 43356, and American Legion Porter Snyder Post 605, 367 W. Main St., Waldo, OH 43356.
