Kenneth J. Smith, age 82, of Marion passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at 7:40 p.m. in the Marion General Hospital.
He was born on July 30, 1931 in Marion, Ohio to the late Delbert R. and Artie F. (Kinkaid) Smith.
Kenneth married the former Azalia Rose Southward on July 12, 1954 in Buckeye Lake, Ohio and she preceded him in death on November 7, 1993 in Marion, Oh.
He served in the U.S.Army during the Korean War, was a member of American Legion Post 162, and a member of Moose Lodge #889.
Ken was employed as a machinist for 42 years with the Marion Power Shovel Co. retiring in June of 1993.
He is survived by a daughter; Kerry Hartley of Marion, Oh., a sister; Imogene Postell of Marion, Oh., 2 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Azalia, 2 sons; Kenneth Smith and Rodney Bowman, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, from 1-2 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
