Phillip S. Hatch, age 76, of Marion, died Friday, November 8, 2013 at Kindred Nursing Center. He was born on July 30, 1937, in Marion, OH, to the late Edwin and Juanita (Hanning) Hatch.
Phillip married Marilyn A. Cafagno on November 21, 1958. He attended Harding High School and proudly served two terms in the United States Air Force.
Phillip was a master machinist at Galion Iron Works/Dresser Co. and a Union Official for the AFL-CIO. He then worked as a Labor Representative for the FOP-Ohio Labor Council in Columbus. Locally Phillip served on the Regional Planning Commission and as 2nd Ward Councilman where he was most proud of his efforts in the development of the Quarry Park. Phillip received the York Right and was a 32 Degree Mason, a former member of the American Legion, and the Moose Lodge.
Phillip is survived by wife, Marilyn; daughters, Cynthia Hatch, of Marion, Martha (Roger) Jerew of Marion, and Dorothy (Gerald “Gerry”) Bowes, of Mt. Gilead; grandchildren, Jessica(Timothy) Simmers, Allison Jerew, Phillip(Jillian) Hutchinson, and Hannah (Nathan) Howell; and great-grandson, Mattic Simmers. He was preceded in death by brothers, Oren “Bill” Hatch, Alan Hatch; and sister, Darlene Hatch.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors from 10AM until 12. A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors at 2PM with Robert Jones officiating.
