Barbara Marie Burkepile, age 74, of Prospect, died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at her home.
Barbara was born on January 11, 1939, in New York City to the late J Gardner and Viola M (Tierney) Lawlor.
Barbara married William E Burkepile on September 2, 1961 and he survives.
Barbara worked as a LPN and heart monitor technician for Marion General Hospital, Community Med Center, and Grady Memorial Hospital.
Barbara was a member of St. Mary Church. She loved listening to music, watching snow fall and looking at Christmas lights. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to William, Barbara is survived by daughters, Jacqueline (Rob) Burkepile-Stump, of Marion, and Tammy Thomas, of Prospect; sisters, Carol Linton, Una Lawrence, and Jane Babb, all of Maryland; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by one brother, Andrew Lawlor.
Visitation will be held, Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors from 4 until 7PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM on Friday, December 13, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Thomas Buffer Presiding. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
